These underserved markets provide great potential for our investors, while positively impacting underserved communities.

Our investment thesis focuses on atypical founders and the brands they create. Our Impact Fund I primarily invests in start-ups and early-stage companies with innovative ideas and concepts capable of exponential growth and founded (1) by founders from atypical social and demographic backgrounds, and/or (2) in economically disadvantaged geographical areas. Atypical social and demographic backgrounds include: Female Founders, Minority Founders, Veterans, Impoverished Childhood, First-Time College Graduates, Children of Single Parents, and Other Similar Characteristics.

We source opportunities through our established network of previous founders, accelerators, funds managers, and personal relationships.

DS5 leverages decades of experience across various industries to evaluate companies. Companies are reviewed based on objective metrics such as market opportunity, traction, and revenue to date. Additionally, founders are evaluated on providing clear artistic vision and a clear path for bringing that vision to life.

Our five investment teams include: Consumer, Enterprise, Fintech, Frontier, and Healthcare. DS5 invests in venture rounds including Seed through Series B and growth rounds including Series C and beyond.
